Arqueologías del Recuerdo parte de una investigación sobre los acontecimientos ocurridos entre el 15 de noviembre y el 23 de diciembre de 1936 en la Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid, uno de los escenarios más devastados de la Guerra Civil Española. Este proyecto reúne seis fotografías y seis dibujos que exploran las huellas arquitectónicas que han sobrevivido al paso del tiempo en distintos espacios históricos. Las fotografías registran vestigios aún presentes en los muros, captados mediante una técnica de iluminación que recrea un ambiente nocturno semejante al resplandor del fuego. Los dibujos funcionan como un estudio de carácter casi científico, analizando estructuras dañadas o desaparecidas y proponiendo una reconstrucción gráfica de su forma original, a través de estarcidos, frotase, collage y transferencias sobre el papel.
Arqueologías del Recuerdo (Archaeologies of Memory) is based on research into the events that took place between 15 November and 23 December 1936 at the University City of Madrid, one of the most devastated sites of the Spanish Civil War. This project brings together six photographs and six drawings that explore the architectural traces that have survived the passage of time in different historical spaces. The photographs record traces still present on the walls, captured using a lighting technique that recreates a nocturnal atmosphere similar to the glow of fire. The drawings function as an almost scientific study, analysing damaged or disappeared structures and proposing a graphic reconstruction of their original form, through stencils, rubbing, collage and transfers on paper.
Durante la investigación, se realizaron moldes de los impactos de bala incrustados en las fachadas de los edificios históricos de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. En el proceso, se extrajeron balas y metralla que todavía persiste en su estructura.
During the investigation, moulds were made of the bullet holes embedded in the façades of the historic buildings of the Complutense University of Madrid. In the process, bullets and shrapnel that still remain in the structure were extracted.
